Welcome to the Council room of the Lord.
God’s Divine Council is what we need when praying for others. We must stand in the Council of the Godhead the Trinity. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are one. A divine element in prayer is prophecy. One aspect of prophecy is predictive, telling something to happen in the future. But prophecy is both foretelling and forthtelling. To speak by inspiration of the Holy Spirit. A prediction or a discourse of exhortation, edification, or comfort. The council we receive from God shall come to pass. God is complete, and all of His Words are as He is; complete. We may not see it come to pass in our lifetime, However it shall come to pass in His timing.
Isaiah 55:11 (KJV)
So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
We are God’s representatives on earth. God speaks to his people ahead of time and shows us things to come. Prophecy is the speaking forth of the mind and counsel of God. Prophecy is a revelation directly from God to a person.
We are to speak the will and purpose of God. Lack of knowledge among Christians about prophecy is so vast that it is not allowed in most of our Churches.
1 Corinthians. 14:31-33 (KJV) - For ye may all prophesy one by one, That all may learn, and all may be comforted. [32] And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. [33] For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
Prophetic Intercession means to seek the presence and hearing of God on behalf of others. It is not praying for yourself but for others. Prophetic intercession is Seeking God’s presence in order to meet with, converse with, and then speaking forth the mind and counsel of God for His people. Everything you hear in prayer is not always to be told at that time, or even to the person you were praying for. You may simply need to release it into the atmosphere. God is not a God of confusion. When people don’t understand prophecy, or they don’t see it come to pass they will often discount Prophets, the prophetic, and often times God. Even when you plant a seed for tomatoes in the ground it takes a process. You will not see tomatoes on the next day, but the plant will grow if all conditions are met. We must understand some prophecies are conditional and some are unconditional. You have to believe what God says and know that it shall manifest even if you don’t see it. Obey the prompting of the Lord. Follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. Praying the right kind of prayer at the right time is vital. With Prophetic prayer you must pray what you hear the Father say and not what your soul or your flesh desires for a person.
James 4:3 (KJV) - Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
As we attempt to do the Word, We pray for others in a general kind of way without knowing the power we have to cover them in prayer. But, if we pray the Word for them we are praying what God has said.
1 Timothy. 2:1-2 (KJV) - I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; [2] For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
Four dimensions of Prophecy:
Prophecy of Scripture, The Office of the Prophet, the Gift of Prophecy, and the Spirit of Prophecy.
Prophecy of Scripture, Given by inspiration of God literally means God breathed, So the Scripture can be considered prophetic in nature in the sense that God spoke it. Prophecy can include promises of God, which can be confirmed in the Word. We know you will not find the word car in the bible yet you could receive a prophecy that says you are going to get a new car. Interpretation of the Word and prophecy will vary depending on a person’s ability to rightly divide the word, their spiritual level, and their relationship with God. All prophecy should be judged by someone who understands it as well as operate in the prophetic, and posses the ability to give Godly council.
1 Corinthians. 14:31-33 (KJV) - For ye may all prophesy one by one, That all may learn, and all may be comforted. [32] And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. [33] For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
True prophecy will originate with or can be confirmed by the Scriptures.
2 Timothy. 3:16-17 (KJV)
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: [17] That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
· The Office of the Prophet:
The prophetic call and anointing come by God and by God only. God chooses whom He wills, to speak what He wills, when he wills. In the Old Testament Prophets were also the Voice of God to His people. As Prophets it is important to know your function. The Prophet ministers edification, exhortation, and comfort, guidance, rebuke, judgment, correction, prediction, and revelation. Every function of this office must be given be done in Love.
Ephesians. 4:11-15 (KJV)
And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; [12] For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: [13] Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: [14] That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; [15] But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
· The Gift of Prophecy:
Is distributed as the Spirit wills. This gift is used for edification, exhortation, and comfort. This gift is not earned it is given by God as the Spirit wills.
1 Cor. 12:1 (KJV)
Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.
We must understand the difference of function of the spiritual gifts.
Because of simply not knowing we could think that a word of wisdom is the gift of prophecy. Those operating in the gift of prophecy may prophesy without waiting on the spirit of prophecy to manifest. There is usually no judgment, rebuke, or correction in a prophecy that comes from one operating in the gift of prophecy. There should be a building up, a stirring up, and a cheering up of the saints of God.
1 Corinthains. 14:3-4 (KJV)
But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort. [4] He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.
· The Spirit of Prophecy;
All may prophesy when this unction is present. The spirit of prophecy is the quickening of the Holy Spirit. It is the Holy Spirit’s mantle of prophetic anointing given from time to time to a believer, resulting in the speaking forth of the word of the Lord. Without this endowment, an individual who does not hold the office of a Prophet or have the gift of prophecy operating could not prophesy the word of the Lord. The presence of the cloud of God’s prophetic anointing can cause a whole congregation to flow in prophecy. Faith is needed to do so. The presence of other Prophets can also cause the Spirit of Prophecy to be released in the atmosphere.
For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.
chrisma, khris'-mah; from Greek 5548 (chrio); an unguent or smearing, i.e. (figurative) the special endowment ("chrism") of the Holy Spirit :- anointing, unction.
But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.
Isaiah 11:2 (KJV)
And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;
Ezekiel 11:5 (KJV)
And the Spirit of the Lord fell upon me, and said unto me, Speak; Thus saith the Lord; Thus have ye said, O house of Israel: for I know the things that come into your mind, every one of them.
Judging Prophecy
1 Corinthians. 14:29-30 (KJV)
Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge. [30] If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.
No prophecy should be given without, a witness, someone to write it down, or record it. This protects not only the giver of the prophetic word but the on who receives the word. Also it will provide a record so that the prophecy may be studied, rehearsed, or Judged. diakrino, dee-ak-ree'-no; from Greek 1223 (dia) and Greek 2919 (krino); to separate thoroughly i.e. (literal and reflexive) to withdraw from, or (by implication) oppose; figurative to discriminate (by implication decide), or (reflexive) hesitate :- contend, make (to) differ (-ence), discern, doubt, judge, be partial, stagger, waver.
1 Corinthians. 14:31-33 (KJV)
For ye may all prophesy one by one, That all may learn, and all may be comforted. [32] And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. [33] For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
The spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets as well. pneuma, pnyoo'-mah; from Greek 4154 (pneo); a current of air, i.e. breath (blast) or a breeze; by analogy or figurative a spirit, i.e. (human) the rational soul, (by implicaiton) vital principle, mental disposition, etc., or (superhuman) an angel, dæmon, or (divine) God, Christ's spirit, the Holy Spirit :- ghost, life, spirit (-ual, -ually), mind. Compare Greek 5590 (psuche).
Prophecies can be judged by the following:
· By the written word. Can it be found in the Word?
· By the character it is given in. Is there a spirit of tenderness and with the purpose of restoration?
· Fulfillment of the prophecy. Did it come to pass?
· Conduct of the individual’s life
· Confirmation of the Spirit
· Confirmation of witnesses
· 2 Cor. 13:1 (KJV)
This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.
