We often dance because we want something to do in the Church. Maybe you were a flag person for the football team, a cheerleader, a ballerina, a tap dancer or a stepper in college fraternity before you got saved. These are all the wrong reasons to dance before the Lord. We must first be Worshippers. John 4:21-24 (KJV) Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. [22] Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. [23] But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. [24] God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. And then you must be righteous in Christ Jesus.
We don't hang out all night or simply sin and then try to Minister to God or to His people on His behalf. The Bible says to be ye Holy for I am Holy. Psalm 24:3-5 (KJV) Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place? [4] He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. [5] He shall receive the blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation. We must be intimate with Him, have a relationship with Him, and love Him enough to be broken before Him. You are never to young or too old to dance before the Lord. If you are ashamed, or shy, come out of that and give God all you have. What if He was ashamed of you? What is it that you won't do for God? We must not only hear the word we must do the word. So when you are asked why do you dance you should have an answer for every man. We should dance because the bible says we should.
We are doers of the Word. Praise Dance, Worship Dance, Prophetic Dance, Intercessory dance, warfare, dance and liturgical dance is not performing. It is Ministry. It is a two-fold Ministry, God speaking through the dancer to the people and the dancer speaking to God. When we dance something should happen. There should be signs that follow when you dance, healing, deliverance, peace, joy liberty, Miracles as the Spirit wills. Not just people saying you looked good, that was pretty, or you sure can move. There is no anointing there if this is all you hear. You should hear things like He touched me when you danced, or I was healed, or how can I dance before the Lord like that. It is the anointing that destroys the yoke.
The anointing comes from God when you die to your flesh and not dance for the press you will receive, or the spotlight of being up front. You have to be submitted to authority. You have to be yielded and wanting more than anything, for His will to be done. Your gift will make room for you and God will set a platform for you. He is still a gentleman He will get the door for you. Only what you do for Christ will last. You must be broken, committed, obedient, submitted, teachable, and led of the Spirit of God to be effective as a dancer.
If you are on program to Minister in dance and they have to eliminate you because of time you will know if you have died to your flesh when you humble yourself and see God move as He wills. No matter what the issue we should say I will do it for you Lord.
